The Manicuring and Pedicuring program prepares students for licensure as a nail technician in North Carolina. Students receive instruction in nail care procedures, artificial nail application, sanitation and infection control, nail disorders, and professional practices. The program combines classroom theory with supervised hands-on clinical experience. Upon successful completion of 320 clock hours, graduates are eligible to apply for the North Carolina State Board licensing examination.
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate proper sanitation, disinfection, and infection control procedures in accordance with NC Board regulations.
- Perform professional manicures and pedicures safely and competently.
- Apply artificial nail enhancements using proper techniques and safety standards.
- Identify nail structure, growth, disorders, and diseases.
- Conduct client consultations and document services appropriately.
- Demonstrate professional ethics, communication, and customer service skills.
- Apply North Carolina cosmetic art laws and rules in a salon setting.
- Demonstrate readiness for the NC State Board written and practical examinations.
Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to enrollment:
- Provide proof of High School Diploma, General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or recognized equivalent.
- Submit the Program Application
- Meet the minimum age requirement established by North Carolina law.
- Submit a copy of a valid Social Security card.
- Provide a copy of a government-issued photo identification (state-issued ID, driver’s license, or valid passport).
- Complete all institutional enrollment documentation.
All documentation must be submitted prior to the first day of instruction and maintained in the student’s permanent file in accordance with institutional and regulatory recordkeeping requirements.
