Course Description
This class provides the students with the information necessary to succeed in the AV & sound engineering field. This class is meant to serve as the hands-on extension of ENT 7001. The course will focus on recording sessions, proving audio theories, and experimenting to build upon the concepts covered in the intro class. Upon completion, students should feel comfortable planning and running a recording session, as well as mixing and editing.Course Outline
Content:• Recording studio design, including all the necessary aspects needed to construct a "real life" commercial recording studio.
• The business aspects of running a commercial or project studio.
• Basic principles of math and science necessary in the AV & sound engineering field.
Please note, no prerequisite advanced math or science class is needed for the student to benefit from this class.
• Designing and interconnecting a commercial recording studio.
Learner Outcomes
Students will learn and understand:• Room acoustics and the underlying theoretical principals of applying acoustic treatment.
• Recording studio interfacing and the standard recommended wiring practices for connecting audio equipment.
• Acoustic treatment design and construction.
• Power systems and grounding and the principals of recording studio design, equipment selection and upgrades, and control room monitor placement and selection.
