Course Description

Participants are required to have a valid commission as a notary public in NC order to qualify for this electronic notary certification. This course instructs individuals in procedures required to exercise electronic notarial acts as set forth by the NC Secretary of State. The course will cover the NC Electronic Notary Act and electronic notary processes. Prerequisite: Participants must have a valid commission as a NC Notary Public prior to participating in the Electronic Notary Certification Course.

Course Outline

The course will cover the N.C. Electronic Notary Act, eligibility and  registration, the N.C. Notary Act in broad view, electronic Notary  processes, technology solutions and providers, ethics as they pertain to  electronic notarizations, consequences of misconduct, security  standards and best practices and departmental recommendations.  To qualify to become a certified electronic notary, participants must hold a valid commission as a notary public in the state of North Carolina.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course and passing an exam with a grade minimum of 80% the student will submit application to the North Carolina Secretary of State's office for certification to exercise electronic notarial acts.
