FLI-LAN7501 - Intermediate Spanish Conversations
Course Description
The focus of this course will be to enhance the student’s speaking skills in order to allow them to communicate in any setting with increased confidence and fluency. Conversation topics will vary from week to week with the group's preference. Additional materials used in the course will include current events, news articles, literature excerpts, and videos/films.Course Outline
Conversations during class meetings may include focusing on topics such as:
- Introducing Yourself and Others
- Expressing Opinions, Likes, and Dislikes
- Striking Up a Conversation
- Making Dates and Appointments
- Describing People, Places and Things
- Expressing Wants and Needs
- Making Requests and Offers
- Expressing Doubts and Uncertainty
- Talking About Future Events
- Making a Case or Arguing a Point
- Narrating a Story
- Retelling a Conversation
- Talking About Controversial Issues
Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:
- Express complicated ideas in any setting and demonstrate intermediate conversational skills in Spanish
- Express a greater understanding of some cultural characteristics of Spanish-speaking countries, and possess greater understanding of literary topics
- Possess the ability to understand unfamiliar topics in literature and films
