Course Description

This course prepares individuals to work as linemen in the preparation and repair of electrical utility service. Course topics include basic elements of electricity, overhead pole and electrical line construction, safety codes and applications, electric power systems, transformer and meter installation, and exploration of underground electrical distribution. Upon completion, individuals will possess the necessary skills for employment in various electrical utility industries. The course content is aligned the with learning outcomes defined by the Carolinas Energy Workforce Consortium. (Note: This course is required and runs concurrently with LIN 7020.)

Notes

Department permission is required to register for this class. Successfully passing of SEF-LIN7017 and the heights assessment is required to be admitted into the program. ELT-LIN7018 runs concurrently with TRA-LIN7020. Student evaluations will be based on class participation, in-class competency, and field competency. Steel or composite toed shoes are required in this class.
