The focus of Esthetics Certificate Program Part One is foundations, safety, theory, and introductory skills.

Module 1: Orientation & NC Laws and Rules (10 Hours)

  • Program expectations and policies 
  • NC Cosmetic Arts laws and regulations 
  • Professional ethics and scope of practice 
  • Student success strategies 

Module 2: Infection Control & Safety (30 Hours)

  • Sanitation, disinfection, sterilization 
  • Blood exposure procedures 
  • SDS and chemical safety 
  • Personal protective equipment 
  • Workplace safety compliance 

Module 3: Anatomy & Physiology (30 Hours)

  • Cells, tissues, and body systems 
  • Integumentary system 
  • Muscular, skeletal, circulatory systems 
  • Nerve supply and skin function 

Module 4: Skin Analysis & Disorders (35 Hours)

  • Skin types and conditions 
  • Contraindications and disorders 
  • Consultation procedures 
  • Fitzpatrick scale and client assessment 

Module 5: Basic Facial Treatments (55 Hours)
(Primary NC Esthetics Skill Area)

  • Facial protocols and sequencing 
  • Cleansing, exfoliation, extractions 
  • Mask therapy and facial massage 
  • Product selection and usage 

Module 6: Hair Removal Fundamentals (25 Hours)

  • Waxing techniques (soft and hard wax)
  • Tweezing and shaping 
  • Safety and contraindications 

Module 7: Intro to Makeup (15 Hours)

  • Color theory basics 
  • Day makeup application 
  • Sanitation in makeup 

Module 8: Student Clinic – Introductory (15 Hours)

  • Client intake and consultation 
  • Basic service performance 
  • Professional communication 

Learner Outcomes
