Course Description

This class satisfies training standards for OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178 in the safe operation of Sit-Down Counter Balanced Lift Trucks. Topics include Lift Truck fundamentals, stability, balance and capacity, pre-operational inspection, general rules of the road, safe handling techniques, refueling gasoline, diesel and LP lift trucks, battery charging and changing. Students will receive Certificate of Completion upon passing the course. This certificate of completion from Central Piedmont states that you have satisfied the regulations under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Employers will still need to conduct an in-house training on all equipment that employees will be utilizing on the job site.

Course Outline

Students will learn the following:

Lift Truck fundamentals

Stability, balance and capacity

Proper pre-operational inspection

Safe handling techniques

General rules of the road

Learner Outcomes

Students will demonstrate through a written test and a practical that they understand and comprehend safe operation of a forklift
