Course Description

This class covers testing certification under the American Welding Society (AWS). This is a single position test. 1G (flat), 2G (horizontal), 3G (vertical), or 4G (overhead), on carbon or stainless steel, and led by one of our AWS Certified Welding Inspectors. Testers will be responsible for their own appropriate welding gear (hand tools, grinder, etc) as well as safety gear (mask, gloves, etc). Student accident insurance is included and required for this course.

Course Outline

  • Validate proficiency by performing plate tests in various positions on 3/8" or 1" carbon steel or other size stainless steel
  • All plate testing is done in accordance with AWS D1.1 or other applicable code. Example: AWS D1.6/D1.6M:2007

Learner Outcomes

The purpose of this class is to validate adherence to AWS code and welding proficiency in the form of a AWS weld test certification. Testing is done in accordance with AWS D1.1 or other applicable code. This test covers single position plate 1G/F. 2G/F, 3G/F, or 4G/F.

Notes

Students must provide their own welding gear and  personal protection equipment. Closed toes shoes are required in the welding lab.
