Course Description

This courses uses the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) training format and provides certificates of competency in core plumbing knowledge. the topics covered include safety, construction math, blueprint reading, hand and power tool usage, and fall prevention. This course covers CORE instruction only.

Learner Outcomes

  • Learn OSHA 10 safety information including hazard recognition, fall protection, personal protection equipment, and safe working procedures
  • Familiarize and understand, basic hand and power tool use including safety, maintenance, and procedures
  • Recognize and interpret basic construction drawing terms, components, and symbols

Notes

  • Closed-toe shoes are required in class
  • Students must create their CPCC user name and password prior to the first day of class.
  • Students will need to purchase the following book for class: "CORE: Introduction to Basic Construction Skills" by NCCER, 6th edition, ISBN 9780137483341.
  • Student evaluation will consist of : NCCER module completion, class participation, and demonstration of skills.
