Course Description

This class will allow you to join the selected and rapidly growing group of cybersecurity analysts. This comprehensive course is designed for aspiring and current IT professionals who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in cybersecurity. Covering the essential domains of CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), this training provides a dual certification pathway that ensures you are well-equipped to protect and defend against cyber threats.

CompTIA Security+: Recognized globally as the benchmark for foundational cybersecurity skills, this certification focuses on key areas such as network security, compliance and operational security, threats and vulnerabilities, application and host security, access control, and identity management.

CompTIA CySA+: This certification builds on the foundational knowledge of Security+ and emphasizes a more advanced understanding of security analytics, intrusion detection, and proactive threat hunting. CySA+ bridges the gap between security operations and incident response, providing you with the skills to apply behavioral analytics to networks to improve the overall state of security.

The CompTIA Cybersecurity certifications are globally esteemed, highly regarded by employers, and the best way to get the knowledge and credentials necessary to excel in this rapidly changing industry.

Notes

Target Audience:
This class is recommended for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity, particularly in roles that involve monitoring and responding to security incidents within an organization's network and systems. CompTIA CySA+ is an intermediate-level certification recommended for IT professionals with a foundational knowledge of cybersecurity.

Occupational Outlook:
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 32 percent from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. Information security analysts typically need a bachelor’s degree in a computer science field, along with related work experience. Employers may prefer to hire analysts who have professional certification.

The median annual wage for information security analysts was $112,000 in May 2022.

Industry Certification:
With a CompTIA CySA+ certification, you will be prepared for roles such as Security Analyst, Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst, Vulnerability Analyst, Threat Hunter, Threat Intelligence Analyst, Security Architect, and Cybersecurity Engineer. Vouchers can be purchased at a discounted price after successful completion of the class.

Information Technology Continuing Education Certificate:

A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who successfully meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve a minimum of 80% overall attendance, with the understanding that documented, meaningful progress in CompTIA CertMaster may be considered as an equivalent substitute for limited absences, at the instructor’s discretion.
  • Actively participate in class discussions, group work, and problem-solving activities.
  • Complete all required hands-on labs, practice exercises, and course projects to an acceptable standard.
  • Demonstrate consistent progress in CompTIA CertMaster to support skill development and course mastery.

Method of Instruction:

This course follows a blended learning model, combining instructor-led lectures, demonstrations, interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and collaborative problem-solving. To support a wide range of learning needs, the course integrates CompTIA CertMaster tools, which provide adaptive, self-paced learning paths designed to help you catch up, accelerate progress, and prepare for relevant industry certifications.

To maximize success, you are strongly encouraged to dedicate a minimum of 6 hours per week to self-guided study and practice using the online learning platform, in addition to scheduled class time.

Evaluation:

Your progress and performance will be evaluated through a combination of:

  • Active participation in class discussions, group activities, and problem-solving exercises.
  • Completion of hands-on skill practices during class sessions and as independent work.
  • Engagement with CompTIA CertMaster training modules, with regular checkpoints to monitor progress.
  • Periodic assessments or quizzes to reinforce learning objectives and measure competency.
