Course Description

This course covers the fundamental techniques, as well as practice in the building of brick walls, steps, corners, and other brick structures. Emphasis is placed on the correct use of the mason's trowel. level, plumb line, and tape measure. Job safety and safe work habits are also covered.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to identify and use masonry tools such as the trowel, level, plumb line, and joinery tools. The student will understand the various types of concrete, along with the principles of mixing, and the various types of joints. The student will be able to complete small masonry projects, and understand how to lay to the line using brick and block. Emphasis will be placed on how to effectively utilize safe work habits and methods. 

Notes

Closed-toe shoes are required in all lab environments.
