  8. Develop and deliver effective presentations using PowerPoint.

Notes

Target Population: 

This class is recommended for people new to technology who want to obtain basic computer skills to advance their career or education. People who are new to the MS Office Suite or have been using an older version can also benefit from this training. 

Industry Certification: 

This course prepares for these certifications: 

  • TestOut Office Pro 
  • MO-110: MS Word® Associate 
  • MO-210: MS Excel® Associate 
  • MO-310: MS PowerPoint® Associate 

Information Technology Continuing Education Certificate:

You will earn a Certificate of Completion upon successfully meeting the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate consistent progress in TestOut Office Pro and complete required modules, labs, and course projects to a satisfactory standard.
  • Engage actively in your chosen mode of participation—whether attending live sessions (in-person or virtual), completing guided online modules, or a mix of both.
  • Participate meaningfully in discussions, group work, or collaborative problem-solving activities when applicable to your learning path.
  • Meet minimum course requirements, including deadlines, checkpoints, and evaluations set by the instructor.

In this flexible model, online progress is the primary indicator of attendance and engagement, while optional in person and live sessions provide opportunities for deeper interaction and support.

Method of Instruction:

This course uses a hyperflexible, blended learning model, designed to adapt to the learner’s preferred mode of participation—whether in the classroom, in virtual sessions, or through guided online training. Instructional methods include:

  • Instructor-led lectures and demonstrations (in-person or virtual)
  • Interactive group discussions and collaborative problem-solving
  • Self-paced digital learning using TestOut Office Pro
  • Hands-on labs and real-world application exercises

Students are encouraged to dedicate at least 5 hours per week to independent study and practice using the online learning platform.

Evaluation:

Learner progress and performance are assessed through a combination of:

  • Participation: Ongoing engagement in class activities, both live and asynchronous
  • Skill Application: Completion of labs, exercises, and projects that reflect applied learning
  • Online Progress Tracking: Regular progress in TestOut Office Pro with periodic instructor checkpoints
  • Quizzes and Assessments: Short assessments used to reinforce and measure understanding of key concepts

Prerequisites

Knowledge: 

If you want to engage virtually or online, you are expected to know how to download software and create accounts online. Otherwise, you might need to attend a classroom session at the beginning of the class.

Resources:  

  • Participants are required to have a laptop or desktop computer with a minimum 4GB ram, 256GB HD, Core i5. Recommended 8GB ram, 256GB SSD, Core i5.    
  • Access to reliable internet as well as a camera, a headset, and preferably dual monitors.   

Materials:  

This class requires TestOut Office Pro (student discounted price $90 aprox). Materials are not included in the tuition; details will be provided on the first day of class.
