Course Description

You have your furniture in place, but your room looks impersonal and unfinished. Accessories and artwork are the finishing touches that add personality and pizzazz to your home! Join this class to learn how to add personal style to your rooms.  We will explore the process of selecting, framing, and displaying artwork in your home. You
will learn how to select accessories which reveal your authentic self, and how to use nature to enhance your home, inside and out. 
This course is required for the Interior Design for Your Home Certificate.

Class 1 

  • Introduction:  What to expect from the course     
  • Course outline
  • Styles of art
  • Understanding categories of art
  • Choosing art for your home
  • Hands on examining how art is used in interior setting
  • Highlighting artwork with custom framing
  • Arranging art in your home
  • Hands on creating designs for arranging artwork
  • Homework, email to susantnash2@gmail.com, Preferred, or text to 704-968-6739, three images of art you love, that you
  • would enjoy having in your home. Include your name in the email or text.

Class 2 

  • Show student images of art they love, they, and art they would enjoy using in their homes.
  • The art of editing your accessories
  • Selecting accessories to express your style
  • Arranging accessories for artful impact

Class 3

  • Saturday field trip. 
  • Homework Assignment: Bring a container, 6 to 10 inches tall, along with long stems of greenery and sticks to create your own arrangement in class.

Class 4 

  • Field trip to a garden center to learn how to beautify your yard and the exterior of your home with natural materials.
  • Homework Assignment:  Bring a container, 6 to 10 inches tall, along with long stems of greenery and sticks to create your own arrangement in class.

Class 5

  • Bring the outdoors inside
  • Grow evergreen plants for cutting
  • Assemble your own fresh arrangements
  • Create Inviting outdoor spaces
