CSP-HMK8751 - Sewing II
Course Description
In this intermediate-level sewing class, skills learned in Sewing I (HMK8757) will be further practiced and built upon. In this class, you will learn more advanced skills and use them to create a garment. Satisfactory completion of this class will equip you to enter Professional Alterations I and is mandatory for admission into the Alterations program.Course Outline
Week 1
- Introduce and practice intermediate sewing techniques
Week 2, 3
- Additional sewing techniques
Weeks 4, 5, 6
- Sewing projects and techniques
Learner Outcomes
Students will be instructed in:
- Intermediate skills of machine sewing,
- Intermediate skills of hand sewing,
- Intermediate Instruction in reading and following a pattern
Students will:
- Create a simple garment (such as pajamas)
- Be prepared to enter Professional Alterations I
Notes
- Satisfactory completion of HMK 8757 (Sewing I) is required to attend HMK 8751. Occasionally permission may be given to waive this requirement based on previous experience and must be obtained from the Program Developer and/or the instructor.
- This class is a mandatory pre-requisite for SEW 8301 (Professional Alterations I).
- You will need to purchase your own supplies; a list will be provided in the first class
- You will use school machines; rental of these machines is reflected in the class price
- Students will purchase needed supplies
- Students must update contact information at time of registration for pre-class communication from instructor
