Course Description
Create, Curate, and Cultivate Your Art!

Course Outline
THE ARTIST – Let your creative juices flow, embark on an exploration of unusual mixed media that will add another dimension to your drawing, painting, collages or other 2D artwork. Learn how to create or sculpt illusions in your artwork? Our special guest instructor will be world renowned Mixed-Media, 3-Dimensional Figurative Artist and Educator, Princess Cureton.
THE GALLERY - Learn to mat, frame, and wire artwork to be gallery ready. Take advantage of learning from pros on how to properly hang artwork, as well as curating art for showing.
THE BUSINESS OF ART – In this portion of the class led by adjunct Instructor (CPCC) & Chief Strategy Officer for Atelier 4, Jonathan Justice will introduce students to the inter-disciplinary curriculum of the art market at the intersection of passion objects and commerce. Students will develop an understanding of art as an asset and the market dynamics in which tangible objects trade, including an understanding of art as collateral, as an investment, and art as a commodity with respect to ownership concerns, risks and liabilities, and planning strategies. Students will also gain insight into the evolving career landscape within the art industry.
Upon completion students will gather for a SPECIAL EVENING RECEPTION! Art: the Accidental Asset - Jonathan will discuss the intersection of aesthetics and commerce, answering the questions: How do we define “art?” Is it an asset?
