Course Description

This course is designed to train the instructor to become an Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor based on the American Heart Association (AHA) standards.

Learner Outcomes

  1. Understand AHA mission
  2. Demonstrate the Instructor Core Competencies
  3. Understand the Program Administration Manual (PAM) and how to access it.
  4. Understand the Training Center (TC) Specific Policies and how to align the a TC.
  5. Understand how to access and use the instructor materials .
  6. Review Feedback device requirements
  7. Demonstrated CPR coaching
  8. Demonstrate how to provide testing stations for BLS CPR for child and infants.
  9. Review systematic approach assessment model and secondary assessments.
  10. Review how to set up learning stations for management in respiratory emergencies, shock emergencies,
  11. and arrhythmia emergencies.
  12. Review management of post cardiac arrest care and coping with dying.
  13. Demonstrate how to set up and run testing scenarios.
  14. Review testing AHA testing policies, remediation, and how to access test.

Prerequisites

Must possess a current PALS provider card and successfully complete the online instructor's essentials for PALS course by AHA.
