Course Description

This course is taught by law enforcement professionals and will give citizens the knowledge  and know-how to protect themselves in the digital age. Focusing specifically on social media, smartphones and cell phone apps, this course will provide details on how criminals can use digital information against you. Whether you are a teenager or a parent, this class will open your eyes to the amount of data produced by your phone or social media account.

  7. Metadata / EXIF data
  8. Cellebrite
  9. Hidden cell phone applications

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course:

  • Students will be familiar with terms used in the digital world
  • Students will be able to extract metadata from pictures
  • Students will have a better working knowledge of how mobile devices store data
  • Students will get to observe a Cellebrite unit being used
  • Students will become familiar with smart phone applications
