Course Description

This course is designed to provide training in topics related to traffic enforcement, patrol activities, or interdiction activities. Course topics may include, but are not limited to, equipment operation, DWI enforcement, interdiction techniques, patrol techniques (vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle), vehicle occupant restraint, traffic law enforcement and traffic crash investigations.

  7. Patrol techniques (vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle)
  8. Vehicle occupant restraint
  9. Traffic law enforcement
  10. Traffic crash investigations.

Learner Outcomes

The following objectives will be achieved:

  • Students will learn and demonstrate derivations of formulas used during traffic crash investigations.
  • Students will be able to reconstruct traffic crashes involving pedestrians, motorcycles and motor vehicles.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate proficiency with speed calculations previously taught in the At-Scene and Advance Traffic crash Investigations courses.

Evaluation: Students must successfully pass a state examination (70%) and demonstrate proficiency during practical exercises.

Prerequisites

Students must have successfully completed the At-Scene and Advance Traffic Crash Investigation Courses.
