CJC-FRN7935 - Profiling Sex Crimes
Course Description
This 16 hour course will provide practical skills for detectives and crime scene investigators in the investigation of various sex crimes. The focus of the instruction will be on the behavioral aspects of offenders, the evidence they leave behind and coordination between CSI and detectives through the completion of the case. The background on behavioral aspects with different sex cases, sex assaults, and other violent sexual related crimes will be covered. The student will evaluate cold cases and cases left with only photographs to work with in reconstructing their case. This intensive course will provide both classroom lectures and realistic mock crime scenes that are real world applicable to both detectives and crime scene investigators.

III. Practical Skills Course
- Identify proper techniques for crime scene response and processing.
- Identify proper investigative techniques for different behavioral aspects of the scene.
- Complete a working mock crime scene.
Learner Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Process Various Crime Scenes related to sex crimes
- Identify both Behavioral and Crime Scene Evidence for sex crimes
- Interpret both Behavioral and Crime Scene Evidence
- Formulate a Behavioral Hypothesis and test the Hypothesis
- Collect and preserve both behavioral and crime scene evidence
- Request Appropriate Laboratory Analysis
Notes
Method of Instruction-Lecture including power points, multiple media and student break out sessions.
Evaluation-
Final exam and Class Participation: Students will complete mock crime scenes that will utilize skills taught during class room lectures.

- This course is being offered to sworn Law Enforcement Officers or individuals associated with a law enforcement agency only.
