Course Description

This is a course in video forensics and involves the preservation of the integrity of video evidence.  This course involves the conversion of analog media to digital media.  Students learn how to extract video bit-stream and convert it into a format that will extend the life of the tape.  Surveillance tapes often become unusable by the loss of picture quality due to the extensive amount of play they require.  This course covers the process of preserving the integrity of the original video by recreating the actual recorded activity that can no longer be viewed due to a deteriorated tape.  Students should be comfortable with using a PC and have basic knowledge of computer systems.
