Course Description

This online course is geared towards Auto Theft Detectives or Police Officers wishing to expand their knowledge of automotive digital evidence. As vehicle manufacturers continue to advance their product line, new technology is continuously being implemented in automobiles to provide more entertainment, security, safety and user features. This class covers how car thieves may try to break into or hack into new vehicles, what and where digital evidence may be located and remote GPS location services such as OnStar and other brands.

  5. OBDII Ports/Scanners
  6. Bluetooth
  7. Tire Pressure Monitor System Vulnerabilities
  8. GPS / Cellular Location Services

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this class, the student will be able to complete the following:

  • Recognize new features in vehicles that utilize new technology
  • Identify places in vehicles where digital evidence may be located
  • Explain the capabilities in GPS location services
  • Explain how new vehicle features may be compromised to gain entry
