Course Description

Golf is one of the most popular recreational pastimes, played for business and pleasure. This course emphasizes the fundamentals needed to practice and play the game of golf. Topics include the proper grips, alignment, stance and swings for the long and short game. Weather conditions may cause schedule adjustments.

Course Outline

  1. Class 1
    • Orientation, learning style
    • Grip, stance, posture
    • Half Swing
    • Chipping
    • Putting
  2. Class 2
    • Review grip, stance, posture
    • Mechanics of the hip turn, start of downswing, striking zone and follow through
    • Review chipping and putting
  3. Class 3
    • Review of class 2
    • Pitch shot, pitch to green
    • Full Swing
  4. Class 4
    • Review of class 3
    • Introduce mid-irons
    • Work on pitch, chip, putt and full swing
  5. Class 5
    • Review of class 4
    • Work on mid-irons, short-irons
    • Introduce #5 fairway wood
  6. Class 6
    • Golf etiquette film
    • Review all clubs that have been introduced
    • Prepare students to play on a Par 3 course.

Learner Outcomes

Perform the full swing, chip, pitch and putt

Notes

Students must bring their own clubs. Bucket of balls costs approximately $10. (Price set by facility and can change without notice)

Be advised this class is weather dependent which may cause class schedule to flex.

Section Notes

Golf Village is located at 400 N. Polk St. Pineville, NC 28134. Students are responsible for bringing golf clubs, and for purchasing range balls from Golf Village at a cost of $12 - $15 per class (the purchase cost is up to Golf Village and can change without notification to the college).

Class will not meet Sunday 4/5.
