Course Description

This course is designed to help officers think at emergency scenes so that they can more readily and accurately contend with the two main questions frequently confronting them. What is the problem and how is the problem solved.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this class the students will be able to:

  • Define the objective
  • Decide upon the activities essential to achieve the objective
  • Assess the effects of pertinent factors on the required activities
  • Assign activities according to the objective of the operation and the function of the units
  • Provide adequate supervision so that the principles governing the functions of units are properly applied
  • Take steps to ensure maximum use of personnel, apparatus, and equipment
  • Use good judgment to ensure activities are coordinated efficiently and effectively
  • Be alert to anticipate changes.
