Course Description

This course is designed to train the instructor to become an Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor based on the American Heart Association (AHA) standards.

Course Outline

Using the AHA ACLS Instructors Essentials Guide book, we'll cover all objectives using a "watch and learn" model. The prospective instructor will act as a student during the practical activities to see how the course is put together.

  • Understand AHA mission
  • Demonstrate the Instructor Core Competencies
  • Understand the Program Administration Manual (PAM) and how to access it.
  • Understand the Training Center (TC) Specific Policies and how to align the a TC.
  • Understand how to access and use the instructor materials .
  • Review Feedback device requirements
  • Demonstrated CPR coaching
  • Demonstrate how to provide learning and testing stations for BLS CPR, Airway management, and mega code scenarios.
  • Review how to set up learning stations for team dynamics, arrhythmia emergencies.
  • Review testing AHA testing policies, remediation, and how to access test.

Prerequisites

  • Must possess a current ACLS provider card and successfully complete the online instructor's essentials for ACLS course by AHA.
