Course Description

This course will review the basic airway management devices that EMT's are allowed to use. During this course, students will be explained the different types of airway devices, indications and contraindications of use for each. Students will be allowed to demonstrate how each device is used and assembled. Students will be explained how to initiate a nebulizer treatment and what drugs they are allowed to administer. Students will also be allowed to capnography and practice taking readings with the tool in class.

Learner Outcomes

  • Distinguish the different types of oxygen delivery devises and the indications and contraindications of each. ( BVM, NRB, NC, BIAD)
  • Demonstrate the proper use of oxygen delivery devises. ( BVM, NRB, NC, BIAD)
  • Demonstrate the proper use of an OPA and NPA.(indications and contraindications of each)
  • Understand and demonstrate the proper use of CPAP (indications and contraindications)
  • Describe the steps in initiating a nebulizer treatment with drug administration.
  • Understand capnography readings and how the equipment is used.
