Course Description

 Start an exciting fitness career and become a Certified Personal Trainer. In collaboration with the World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), we offer a Personal Trainer Certification Program designed to help you start a successful career as a trainer. This six-week intensive workshop provides in-class theory and hands-on practical training. Online/Virtual lectures (15 hours) cover anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, nutrition and can be viewed live at the scheduled times with recordings that can be accessed at the students convenience.  The in-person practical skill labs (15 hours) cover essential hands-on skills to master assessing clients, stretching, warm-ups/cool downs, exercise analysis with execution, and programming design. This course prepares students for the National Exam held during the last day of class (at no additional cost).  Access to our online course to review lectures and labs is included. Earn a Level 1 certification upon completion of the workshop and successfully passing the written, practical exams, and providing proof of current CPR certification. Level 2 certification, if desired, is achieved once you complete a 30-hour employer mentored internship.  Students must be age 18 or older to receive certification.

Understand and describe basic anatomy, kinesiology and exercise physiology

Notes

To achieve the National Personal Fitness Trainer Certification:

  • Students must pass both a written and practical skills exam to be a Level 1 Certified Personal. SPECIAL NOTE: The CPT course is not required to take the national certification exams
  • Attendance is not required.
  • Adult CPR/AED is required for the certification to be issued after the exams.
  • Students have an option for a bonus Level 2 Certification by completing a 30-hour internship through W.I.T.S. An employer list is provided to all students.
  • Course requirements must be completed within 12 months of the original course start date.
  • The 2-year renewal period is based on the original course completion date.
