Course Description
Basic Blueprint Reading covers all the basic content and exercises to make someone a competent reader of blueprints. This is one of the basic requirements for most AutoCAD careers. Achieve competence in reading and interpreting industrial drawings. Learn the basic principles, concepts, ANSI and SI Metric drafting symbols and standards, terminology, and other related technical information contained in a CAD drawing.
Course Outline
This course focuses on blueprint reading and sketching principles, concepts, ANSI/ASMF, and ISO Metric drafting symbols and standards contained in a CAD-produced drawing. Topics may include an overview of the following:- Lines

Learner Outcomes
This class will teach you the basic principles of blueprint reading with companion drawings and assignments relating to the applications of each principle. In this class, you will develop your skills in reading and accurately interpreting industrial drawings for manufacturing and construction trades.
Notes
Target Population: The Basic Blueprint Reading class is intended for all engineers, technicians, mechanics, and persons whose jobs are related to manufacturing, transportation, construction, and fabrication.
Instruction Method: Lecture with demonstration, discussion, hands-on exercises, and problem-solving. May have outside assignments.
Evaluation: Participation and completion of skill practices are expected. Class attendance is required for successful completion.
Information Technology Continuing Education Certificate: This course is part of the AutoCAD Certificate. Certificates are awarded with the completion of all required courses (no substitutions), and a final project.
Industry Certification: The AutoCAD Certificate prepares you for the Autodesk Certified User through Certiport.
Prerequisites
Basic Computer Skills: Participants must know basic typing, windows filing, internet browsing, downloading, and account creation.
