Course Description

This course is designed for users who have a good working skill level in AutoCAD and are proficient with 2D commands.  Expand your knowledge of the fundamentals of 3D and explore the main features of the advanced 3D modeling workspace. This course is part of the AutoCAD certificate.   

 

Course Outline

  • 3D viewing techniques
  • Working with simple and composite solids
  • Creating complex solids and surfaces
  • Modifying objects in 3D space
  • Editing solids
  • Creating sections, camera perspectives, and animations
  • Working with point clouds
  • Converting 3D objects
  • Setting up a rendering with materials and lights
  • Creating 2D drawings from 3D models
  • Working with the User Coordinate System

 

Learner Outcomes

AutoCAD 3D Drawing and Modeling covers the fundamentals of how to create a basic 3D drawing in the AutoCAD software.   In this class, you will:

  • Create and edit drawings using the concepts and methods of 3D modeling.
  • Explore the main features of the advanced 3D Modeling workspace as you continue to create and edit your drawings.

 

Notes

Target Audience: The AutoCAD class is intended for all engineers, technicians, mechanics, and persons whose jobs are related to manufacturing, transportation, construction, and fabrication and using AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT with a Windows operating system.

Instruction Method: Lecture with demonstration, discussion, hands-on exercises, and problem-solving. May have outside assignments.

Evaluation: Participation and completion of skill practices expected. Class attendance is required for successful completion.

Information Technology Continuing Education Certificate: This course is part of the AutoCAD Certificate.  Certificates are awarded with the completion of all required courses (no substitutions).

Industry Certification: The AutoCAD Certificate prepares you for the Autodesk Certified User through Certiport.

 

Prerequisites

CAD-7103 AutoCAD Advanced or equivalent knowledge.

 

Recommendations

Early registration: Books are included in the tuition, and class registration closes 10 days prior to the start day to allow time for ordering materials.
