Target Audience:
This course is tailored for professionals across different job roles who currently use desktop or web-based data management tools, including Excel or SQL Server, for numerical and general data analysis tasks. This class is recommended for professionals seeking to advance their data analysis and visualization skills, business analysts, data analysts, and data scientists looking to leverage Power BI for deeper insights. Managers and decision-makers who want to make data-driven choices for their organizations, and IT professionals interested in adding Power BI expertise to their toolkit.

Occupational Outlook:
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that employment of data workers is projected to grow 36 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 13,500 openings for data workers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. The recommended education level is a Bachelor's degree or higher.

Information Technology Continuing Education Certificate: 
This course is part of the Business Data Analytics Certificate. Certificates are awarded with the completion of all required courses (no substitutions). A certificate of completion for the class will be issued to participants with at least 80% attendance, class participation, and completion of hands-on practice and projects.

Method of Instruction: 
Lecture with demonstration, discussion, hands-on exercises, and problem-solving. May have outside assignments.

 Evaluation:
 Participation in class discussions and completion of skill practices in and outside of the classroom is expected. 

Industry Certification:
Completing the Analyzing Data with Power BI class will prepare you to take the PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst Associate Certification exam.

 

Prerequisites

Advanced knowledge of Excel is required.

Basic Computer Skills: Participants must have basic computer knowledge including typing, windows filing, internet browsing, downloading, working in the cloud, and account creation. 

Resources: Access to a Windows-based computer and reliable internet is required as well as a camera, a headset, and preferably dual monitors.
