Course Description

Security is one of the highest-demand job categories, which has grown in importance as the frequency and severity of security threats continue to be a major concern for organizations around the world.  Develop a core foundation of essential skills, paving the way for a fulfilling career. More job roles use CompTIA Security+ for baseline cybersecurity skills than any other certification in the industry. Security+ is one of the only ISO/ANSI-accredited early career cybersecurity certifications on the market with hands-on, performance-based questions on the certification exam. These practical questions assess your ability to effectively problem solve in real-life situations and demonstrate your expertise to potential employers immediately. Understand and use the most recent advancements in cybersecurity technology, terms, techniques, and tools. By acquiring early career skills in the latest trends such as automation, zero trust, risk analysis, operational technology, and IoT, you will be well-equipped to excel in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.

This is a blended class with instructor-led coaching and self-paced online learning, you will need to plan at least 5 hours per week for self-directed learning. This class includes the following products for version SYO-701: CompTIA CertMaster Learn, CertMaster Labs, CertMaster Practice, and the exam voucher.

Notes

Target Audience:
The CompTIA Security+ class is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity or enhancing their existing knowledge and skills in this field. Security+ is an excellent choice for IT professionals who want to specialize in cybersecurity. It helps IT technicians, network administrators, system administrators, and IT support specialists understand and mitigate security risks in their environments. Many individuals looking to start a career in cybersecurity begin with the CompTIA Security+ certification. It provides a solid foundation in security concepts and prepares them for entry-level positions such as security analyst, security specialist, or junior cybersecurity roles. CompTIA Security+ is recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense and is often a requirement for cybersecurity positions within the military. Military personnel and veterans looking to transition into civilian cybersecurity roles can benefit from this class.

Occupational Outlook:
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 32 percent from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. Information security analysts typically need a bachelor’s degree in a computer science field, along with related work experience. Employers may prefer to hire analysts who have professional certification.
The median annual wage for information security analysts was $112,000 in May 2022.

Information Technology Continuing Education Certificate:
This course is part of the Jr. Cyber Security Certificate. Certificates are awarded with the completion of all required courses (no substitutions). A certificate of completion for the class will be issued to participants with at least 80% attendance, class participation, and completion of hands-on practice and projects.

Industry Certification:
Prepares you for the CompTIA Security+ Certification exam SY0-701 through Pearson Vue (Certiport).

Method of Instruction:
Blended learning with lectures, videos, live discussions, live demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and problem-solving. Outside homework is assigned.
