Course Description

The word "followership" in previous seasons of the fire service was perceived as derogatory in nature. We were taught that being a follower was a weak characteristic. In reality, being a follower, and especially a good follower, will certainly develop people to be a good leader. This course will explain followership and how it correlates to leadership as someone’s career develops. It will provide any rank, tips and strategies to increase followership in their organization and to explain characteristics of good followers and also ones that have a negative impact on fire service culture.

  • Followership
  • Emotional Intelligence- Explains what EQI is and how one can improve their emotional intelligence
  • Focus- This portion explains how to create focus with today's distractions as well as topics such as switching costs.
