Course Description

This class is a preassessment of an individual's ability to perform proper and safe welds. Students will be evaluated on their preparation, equipment setup, knowledge of safety, and the specific welding application. Applications like, but not limited to, SMAW or GMAW will be defined prior to the assessment.

Learner Outcomes

Assessments will be supervised by Certified Welding Educators (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI). Bend grading will be performed by a CWI. They will use the assessment to define current welding knowledge, identify gaps, and develop plans to improve and meet the identified goal.

  • Students will take an assessment.
  • Instructors will evaluate and define areas of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Report will be generated for the student's use.
  • Educational plan will be created to reach the identified goal.

Notes

Students must provide their own PPE. Closed-toe shoes must be worn in the welding area.
