Course Description

This course is designed to educate the investigating Detective or Crime Scene responder on the typology of adult and child sex offender’s, how to analyze which type of offender based upon victim statements and offender background. Utilizing this information, the Detective or Crime Scene responder will have a better understanding of what type of evidence could be available while conducting searches of the offender’s residence or property.

Course Outline

Day 1

  • Typology of Adult Sex Offenders
  • Sexual Paraphilias
  • Interview Considerations for Victims
  • Case Studies of the Different Typologies
  • Evidence Considerations for Adult Offenders
  • Typology of Child Sex Offenders

Day 2

  • Interview Considerations for Child Victims to include coordination with Forensic Interviewers
  • Case Studies of the Different Typologies
  • Evidence Considerations for Child Offenders

Day 3

  • Mock Crime Scenes and Interviews

Evaluation:

  • Class Participation
  • Final Exam - not Pass/Fail, only to gauge knowledge retention

  • This course is being offered to sworn Law Enforcement Officers or individuals associated with a law enforcement agency only.
