Course Description

Participants will be provided a general understanding of the safe and efficient operation sit-down counterbalanced forklifts (electric and gas/lp) only. Participants will be able to identify specific health and safety hazards associated with operating forklifts.  Two segments will be provided with this program that includes: 1) in-class course with formal lecture and instruction, along with an exam; and 2) on-site evaluation that measures the individual's ability to operate a specific forklift in a safe manner.

Course Outline

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to present professionally developed operator safety training classes to lift truck operators, instruct trainers to prepare and conduct thorough, up-to-date operator safety training, identify the center of gravity with raised forks, identify safe fork placement when operating a forklift, explain proper forklift driving procedures on a ramp, apply OSHA standards 1910.178 on powered industrial forklift, and conduct a pre-trip inspection of a forklift.
