Course Description

This course introduces safety, tools and techniques used in auto body restoration. Topics include shop
safety, damage analogies, tools and equipment, materials and techniques.

• Aro type 1⁄4” male N.P.T.
• NAPA Type “B” NTH 90-618
• 6” rubber sanding block
• 17” file board
• Spreaders
• Automotive spray paint respirator
Basic hand tools students will use in class
• Body pack hammer
• Body dolly
• DA Sander
• Angle Die Grinder with grinder disk
• Air blowgun
• 1⁄4” & 3/8” drive socket set-standard and or metric
• Combination wrench set metric 6mm-16mm and standard 7/16-9/16
• Screw driver-common, Phillips, torx
• Ball peen hammer

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this class the student will be able to safely and correctly use equipment in the repair
and restoration process of vehicles.

Notes

Class will start and end on time.  Students must furnish their own personal hand tools and their own supplies such as but not limited to:  Plastic body filler (Bondo), and hardener polyester body filled and hardener duct tape, urethane primer, reducer, hardener Epoxy primer and activator automotive paint, all sandpaper, file boards and any other supply needed for your project.  Use of the school air tools, and prep wipe towels will be allowed. Personal cars will not be allowed to remain in the shop after the last day of class.  All vehicles must be removed and the students are required to clean the shop after class. The Auto Body Department at CPCC is not responsible for tools, parts and supplies left on the premises. Students must furnish their own safety equipment (i.e. safety glasses, respirators, work gloves, etc.) Students will not be permitted to use any tools or equipment unless they are properly trained, given permission and properly supervised by an instructor.  Examples include (frame machine, welding equipment, etc) Students are only allowed to work on one car at a time in the shop.
